Leadership and Crisis Communication
We are all leaders no matter the position or title we hold. And as leaders, we must be prepared to manage a crisis if, and when, it is thrust upon us. This presentation will provide an overview of crisis communication and discuss best practices for leading others through challenging times.

Speaker
Jolie Busby, M.Ed., CVM
Associate Director, ECU Continuing and Professional Education
Appointed in 2017, Jolie serves as the Associate Director of Continuing and Professional Education at East Carolina University. Her responsibilities include oversight of professional education and non-credit course delivery including the North Carolina Certified Economic Developer program.
A native Arkansan, Jolie majored in history at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where she also earned her Nonprofit Management credential. In 2016, she earned a Master of Education degree from the flagship campus of the University of Arkansas system – go Hogs!
With over 20 years of experience in nonprofit and public service program development, Jolie’s passion for education and training is reflected in her previous role as Executive Director for the Arkansas Public Administration Consortium. She is a proud AmeriCorps National Service alum and served as the AmeriCorps Program Director at the UA Winthrop Rockefeller Institute as well as UALR Children International. In February 2014, Busby was appointed by then Governor Mike Beebe to serve on the Governor’s Advisory Council on Volunteerism.
She and her husband Joe enjoy the college town atmosphere of Greenville. Devoted beach goers, they take advantage of the short drive to Atlantic Beach as often as possible. She and Joe just returned from a brief trip to Arkansas to meet a new grandson.
